Treccia mozzarella is one of the most beloved mozzarella variations, thanks to its braid shape, white color and shiny shell.
Murgella treccia mozzarella won a Gold Medal in its category at the 25th World Cheese Awards 2013, the only GOLD awarded in the category of Mozzarella, fresh, cows’ milk (large or small). In 1995, Caseificio Palazzo has produced the world’s biggest treccia mozzarella and has been included into the Guinness Book of Records.
Braided mozzarella can be used both for cold and hot recipes. Always perfect on its own, accompanied by fresh tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper, treccia cheese is also great in salads, pizza or parmigiana or any other Italian dishes.
Before using treccia mozzarella, it is advised to let the excess of milk go, in order to make it even more enjoyable. However, the draining should not leave it entirely dry, but still offer a pleasant and typical humid consistency.
No animal rennet is used for the production of our treccia di mozzarella. For this reason the “Associazione Vegetariana Italiana” has officially certified it as a vegetarian product.
